Syria sends troops to restore order after Alawite killings
The Syrian government has deployed security forces to coastal areas after reports of over 500 Alawite civilians killed in recent violence. This follows clashes between government troops and loyalists of former President Bashar Assad. The deployment aims to restore order in Latakia, Jableh, and Baniyas, where the Alawite community resides. Officials have stated that any acts of revenge will not be tolerated. Germany and France have condemned the violence and called for independent investigations. France emphasized the need for a peaceful political transition in Syria to prevent further conflict.
