Sydney law firm faces cyberattack and data breach
A Sydney law firm, Brydens Lawyers, has experienced a cyber extortion attack, resulting in the theft of over 600 gigabytes of confidential data. The breach was discovered around February 20, prompting the firm to take its digital systems offline. Brydens Lawyers, linked to various sports teams, has reported the incident to the Australian Cyber Security Centre. The firm is working with external experts to address the breach and restore security. This incident follows a trend of ransomware attacks on law firms, with another Australian firm, HWL Ebsworth, suffering a larger breach two years ago. Brydens is now alerting clients and assessing the impact of the breach.
