Sydney high school rises 220 places in HSC rankings under new principal
Barrenjoey High School in Sydney has significantly improved its HSC results, rising over 220 places in rankings since the new principal's appointment in April. The school filled teaching vacancies and doubled the number of students achieving top band results compared to last year. Principal Brett Blaker implemented regular study sessions and practice tests to enhance student performance. The school also introduced the "Band Up Society," focusing on exam techniques to boost top-band results in mathematics. Other schools, like Randwick Boys High and Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, also saw notable improvements in their rankings. Newtown High recorded its best results ever, with a significant increase in advanced math success.
