Sussex confident Robinson will play in County Championship opener

Sussex is hopeful that bowler Ollie Robinson will be ready for their first County Championship match. Head coach Paul Farbrace shared this news ahead of the season opener on April 4 against Warwickshire at Edgbaston. Robinson, who has played for England 20 times and taken 76 wickets, had surgery for a double hernia earlier this year. Farbrace mentioned that the 31-year-old is recovering well and has started bowling again in Cape Town. “We're all pretty confident he’ll be ready to play at Edgbaston,” Farbrace said. However, he added that if Robinson isn’t fully fit, the team won’t rush him back. Ideally, they want him to lead the bowling attack. Last season, Robinson took 39 wickets in 12 matches, averaging 25.53. His most recent appearance for England was in February 2024 against India.
