Suspect arrested for East Cleveland shooting murder

David Wayne Garner, 40, has been arrested by U.S. marshals in connection with a fatal shooting in East Cleveland. He was taken into custody on Monday in Cleveland Heights. Garner is accused of murdering Rashawn Brinkley, also 40, on January 20, 2025. The shooting took place in the 1700 block of Shaw Avenue, where Brinkley was shot twice in the head while sitting in a vehicle. The arrest was made by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott emphasized the importance of removing violent criminals from the community for safety.
