Survivors share experiences of injuries from dangerous manja in Hyderabad

In Hyderabad, the illegal sale of Chinese manja continues despite safety concerns. Survivors of accidents caused by the glass-coated kite strings share their experiences ahead of the Sankranti festival. Ayaan Sayani, 21, suffered severe injuries in 2022 when the manja cut his throat while he was biking. He underwent two surgeries and still feels the trauma from the incident. Six-year-old Divya Madhavi was injured last year when the manja cut her face and ear while playing. Her mother reports that the scars serve as a constant reminder of the traumatic event.
