A police officer was attacked by illegal sand miners while trying to stop their activities in Panchkula. The incident occurred on Sunday at the Burj Kotiya river. Sub-Inspector Rajbir Singh received a tip-off about the illegal mining and headed to the site. When Singh arrived, he saw a man named Poli signaling other miners. As he tried to intercept the mining trucks, Poli and three others blocked his way on motorcycles. Armed with sticks, they threatened Singh, verbally abused him, and physically assaulted him. Singh called for backup from his police post. The group then stopped his vehicle near the Chandimandir traffic light, but they fled after threatening him further. The Panchkula Police have launched a search for Poli, his two sons, and the others involved in the attack. They have registered a case against them under several sections of the law for assaulting a public servant and other offenses.
