Crime in Styria reached a record high in 2024, with nearly 60,000 reported offenses, according to the Landespolizeidirektion. The total number of cases increased by 2.2% to 58,378, but the clearance rate also rose to 57.9%. Violence-related crimes were in the five-digit range for the first time, and there was an increase in young offenders. Despite the rise, Austria remains one of the safest countries globally. Social benefit fraud and drug-related offenses also saw increases, while internet crime slightly decreased.
