Stuntman loses £50,000 in cryptocurrency scam
A stuntman named Felix Leech has lost nearly £50,000 in a cryptocurrency scam. He has worked on movies like Paddington 2, Star Wars, and Game of Thrones. Felix joined a WhatsApp trading group he found on Instagram, and initially invested £1,000. Over time, he transferred more money, believing he was earning profits. However, when he tried to withdraw his cash, scammers demanded hefty fees for fake reasons like money laundering and insider trading. Felix shared his troubles with his uncle, who alerted him that it was a scam. By then, Felix had already lost everything, including savings and loans. He felt trapped, thinking he had to keep paying to recover his money. At first, he believed the scam was legitimate after successfully withdrawing small amounts. However, after more payments and a few months, the WhatsApp group vanished along with the scam websites. Now, with help from the National Fraud Helpline, Felix has managed to recover £11,000 from his bank. He expressed relief at paying off past debts and hopes to recover more funds in the future. A lawyer from the helpline warned that fraudsters often use fear tactics to manipulate victims into giving more money. Felix hopes to regain his financial independence and build a better life.
