Study shows significant improvement in emergency auto-braking systems in new vehicles

A recent AAA study shows that new vehicles with auto emergency braking (AEB) systems are significantly better at avoiding collisions than those from six years ago. New models are now twice as likely to prevent frontal crashes. At speeds below 35 mph, the latest vehicles achieved a 100 percent success rate in collision avoidance. The study compared three new models from 2024 with their 2018 counterparts, revealing major improvements in AEB performance. While advancements are notable, AAA cautions that AEB systems are less effective at higher speeds. In tests at 45 mph, three out of four vehicles avoided a collision, but none succeeded at 55 mph.
