A new study in Current Psychology examined suicidal expressions among users of incel forums, particularly those posting on r/SuicideWatch. Researchers identified six psychological stressors linked to suicidality, including social isolation, appearance concerns, and mental health issues. The study analyzed 13,187 posts from 5,275 unique incel users. It found that feelings of loneliness and negative body image were prominent themes, along with struggles with mental health, frustration over involuntary celibacy, family problems, and feelings of worthlessness. This research highlights significant psychological distress within the incel community. However, it may not fully represent the experiences of incels who do not share suicidal thoughts online.
