Study finds toddlers ingest harmful chemicals

Young children are widely exposed to potentially harmful chemicals before kindergarten, according to a new study, raising concerns about their health. This exposure is considered alarming due to the critical developmental window of early childhood. Researchers analyzed urine samples from 201 children aged 2-4, finding 48 of 111 chemicals in over half the children. Many of these chemicals, including phthalates and parabens, are known or suspected to disrupt hormones and brain development. The study, published June 30, 2025, suggests exposure occurs through everyday activities. Experts emphasize the need for expanded monitoring and further research on the health effects of these chemicals on young children.
