A street vendor in Panchkula was tricked out of ₹2.9 lakh by a man promising a government job. The victim, Manohar Kumar from Abhaypur village, reported that he was deceived by Om Parkash. Kumar met Parkash in July 2023. Parkash claimed he could help secure him a government job and asked for ₹4 lakh. In August, Kumar paid an initial ₹1 lakh, and Parkash gave him a fake job offer letter. After this, Parkash asked for another ₹3 lakh. Kumar ended up paying another ₹1.90 lakh. Parkash claimed that Kumar would get a job at a Sector 26 dispensary with a monthly salary of ₹27,500. When Kumar found out the offer letter was fake, he confronted Parkash. However, Parkash refused to return any of the money. Kumar then filed a police complaint, which led to an investigation and the registration of a case for cheating, forgery, and breach of trust.
