Stockport's Great Pyramid to become largest curry house
A derelict building known as the Great Pyramid of Stockport will soon become the world’s largest curry house. The restaurant will accommodate up to 1,500 diners in an 86,000 square foot space. Royal Nawaab, a popular restaurant group, is leading the transformation. The ground floor will feature a 360-seat restaurant and buffet. The first floor will have room for an additional 680 guests. There will also be more dining rooms, an office, and storage space in the floors above. The building has been unused since the Co-operative Bank vacated it in 2017. Mahboob Hussain, the founder of Royal Nawaab, expressed excitement about this project. He called the building an "iconic symbol of Stockport" and acknowledged the challenges in working with its unique shape. Hussain mentioned that he enjoys tackling such challenges. He was previously involved with a historical building in London. Despite some issues during the renovation, the team is nearing completion and eager to open the restaurant.
