Starmer seeks peace between Trump and Zelensky
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer aims to mediate between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a recent disagreement. He plans to collaborate with France and Ukraine on a peace strategy to present to the U.S. Starmer expressed confidence that both Trump and Zelensky desire peace, while he remains skeptical of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He emphasized the need for a European security guarantee and called for increased defense spending and coordination among European nations. Earlier this week, Starmer announced a cut to the foreign aid budget to boost defense funding to 2.5% of national income by 2027. This decision led to the resignation of his International Development Minister, Anneliese Dodds.
