Sriram Raghavan directs war film "Ikkis" inspired by classics
Director Sriram Raghavan is making his first war film titled "Ikkis." He is known for his thrilling films but wanted to explore something new. The film is based on Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honor. Raghavan studied various war movies to prepare for "Ikkis." He watched Brad Pitt's "Fury" and the classic "Battle of the Bulge," among others. He said these films helped him understand action and war sequences. He aimed for realism in the portrayal of the story, avoiding a simplified, comic book version. The movie features a strong cast, including Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and newcomer Simar Bhatia. Raghavan noted that Bhatia underwent significant training for her role. Working with Dharmendra again excited Raghavan, as he previously directed him in "Johnny Gaddaar." There are about ten days left of shooting for "Ikkis," which is produced by Dinesh Vijan. The film is expected to be released around September. Raghavan also participated in the Red Lorry Film Festival, where he shared his favorite detective films, including "The Day of the Jackal."
