SpaceX resumed crewed splashdowns in the Pacific
SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule, Resilience, splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off Southern California on April 4. This marked a return to West Coast splashdowns after several years of landing in Florida, a shift in recovery strategy. Previously, SpaceX used Pacific splashdowns for crewed and cargo missions until 2019. Concerns about debris prompted the change, as SpaceX now separates the trunk earlier, ensuring debris lands safely in the ocean. The Fram2 mission, which ended with the Pacific splashdown, signals SpaceX's long-term return to the West Coast for crewed missions. Future missions will utilize this route, differing from past practices.
