South Korean opposition threatens impeachment of acting president over martial law investigation

South Korea's main opposition party has threatened to impeach acting president Han Duck-soo if he does not enact a law for a special counsel investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed martial law attempt. Yoon was impeached on December 14. The opposition Democratic Party, which holds a parliamentary majority, passed a bill to investigate Yoon and his wife over various allegations. They accuse Han of supporting Yoon's martial law efforts and have reported him to police. A joint investigative team is set to question Yoon on December 25, but his attendance is uncertain. Police have attempted to enter Yoon's office for evidence collection but were denied access by the presidential security service.
