South Korean man jailed for rape captured on camera
A 24-year-old man in South Korea has been sentenced to jail for rape and other sexual crimes. His conviction was confirmed by a high court after an unusual piece of evidence was found. The crime was reflected in the lid of a washing machine, which was caught on security footage. Initially, the CCTV video did not show the attack. However, investigators noticed the reflection in the washing machine’s lid, which helped to build the case against the man. He faced other serious charges as well, including the rape of a former girlfriend and sexual acts with a minor. He was initially sentenced to eight years in prison in November. After appealing the ruling, the high court reduced his sentence to seven years. The court considered a settlement he reached with one of the victims in its decision.
