South Korean family vanishes between Grand Canyon and Las Vegas
A family of three tourists from South Korea has gone missing while traveling from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. Jiyeon Lee, 33, Taehee Kim, 59, and Junghee Kim, 54, were last seen on March 13. They were in a rental car traveling on Interstate 40. Authorities were alerted when the family did not board their flight home. Family members reached out to the South Korean Consulate in Los Angeles for help. The Coconino County Sheriff's Office began searching for them after being notified on March 18. The family’s rental car was last tracked near the location of a serious accident on Interstate 40. This crash involved 22 vehicles and occurred during a winter storm that made the road icy. Officials stated that the family’s GPS likely rerouted them onto a forest service road due to the weather conditions at that time. There is concern that the family may have been caught in the chaos of the crash, which resulted in two fatalities. However, the sheriff's office has not confirmed if the missing family was involved in the accident. The authorities are actively searching the area. They are asking anyone with information about Jiyeon Lee, Taehee Kim, or Junghee Kim to contact the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.
