Sotomayor lets $655M Palestinian Authority judgment stand

The decision, issued without explanation, permits the plaintiffs to pursue the award while the Palestinian groups prepare another appeal. The PA and PLO argued the judgment was improperly revived and warned collection could worsen a financial crisis affecting West Bank services. The case stems from shootings and bombings near Jerusalem between 2002 and 2004. A jury's $218.5 million award was tripled under anti-terrorism law, overturned in 2016, then reinstated after Congress changed the law and the Supreme Court upheld it in 2025.
