Son arrested for stabbing parents in Azusa home
A 28-year-old man named Gabriel Contreras has been arrested for the murder of his parents in their Azusa home. The police responded to reports of screaming on Saturday and found the victims, Linda Rodriguez, 50, and Arthur Contreras, 58, both with multiple stab wounds. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Gabriel was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The tragic events occurred in the 300 block of North Twintree Avenue around 2 p.m. Rodriguez died from a gunshot wound to the head along with several stab injuries. Arthur also had multiple stab wounds. Gabriel was found outside the house, suffering from his own stab wounds, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was arrested on Wednesday and is being held in Pomona Municipal Court with a bail set at $2 million. Gabriel was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, but it was not clear what his plea would be at this time.
