Somerset introduces toothpaste tube recycling in kerbside collections
Somerset has begun recycling toothpaste tubes in kerbside collections, becoming one of the first areas in the UK to offer this service. This change follows a shift by brands to use single plastic tubes, making recycling easier. Previously, toothpaste tubes were made from multiple plastics, complicating recycling efforts. Now, most brands have adopted single plastic packaging, which is recyclable. Residents are advised to empty the tubes before placing them in their blue recycling bags. Somerset Council encourages residents to participate in this new recycling initiative. The area is recognized for its strong recycling efforts, ranking in the top 20% in the UK.
