'Snowfall' spin-off pilot approved for 1990s Los Angeles

FX is moving forward with a pilot episode for a spinoff of its popular series 'Snowfall.' The new show will be set in 1990s Los Angeles and will explore the shift from the drug trade to the gangster rap scene. Actors Gail Bean and Isaiah John will reprise their roles as Wanda and Leon. They will be joined by new characters as the story unfolds. Production is scheduled to start this summer. The original 'Snowfall' series ran for six seasons and focused on how a covert CIA operation impacted the South Central L.A. community by introducing crack cocaine. The spinoff will maintain connections to the original story while bringing in fresh elements. Executive producers for the spinoff include Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, and Malcolm Spellman. The team aims to connect old and new characters, although it remains unclear if any other characters from the original show will appear. In other news, Damson Idris, a lead in 'Snowfall,' will soon star in the highly anticipated film about Formula 1 racing alongside Brad Pitt. This movie is set to hit theaters in late June 2025.
