Smart card program aids Pitas students financially
A smart card aid program provides financial assistance to over 600 students in Pitas, Malaysia, easing the financial burden on low-income families. Each student receives RM100 monthly to purchase school supplies and food. The initiative, a Corporate Social Responsibility program by SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd and the MyKasih Foundation, targets students in four primary and three secondary schools. The cards function like debit cards and are restricted to essential purchases. The program, costing approximately RM1 million, is the first of its kind in Pitas, one of Sabah's most impoverished districts, and will be reviewed for potential expansion.
