Six months of Middle East war yield no end in sight

Six months after the US-Israel air campaign against Iran began on February 28, the Middle East conflict remains unresolved with no end in sight, despite President Donald Trump's initial promise to end it in weeks. The war has expanded to Lebanon, where Hezbollah opened a second front, and has disrupted Gulf energy infrastructure and much of the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the first strikes, succeeded by his son Mojtaba. Negotiations, including a two-week truce mediated by Pakistan in April and a June memorandum of understanding, collapsed, leading to renewed mutual attacks. The latest escalation is dubbed "Operation Economic Parity," with tensions continuing to intensify.
