Sisters Erika and Mirra Andreeva face off at Wuhan Open in first professional match

Erika Andreeva defeated her sister Mirra 6-3, 6-1 in their first professional match at the Wuhan Open. This was the first WTA main draw match between sisters since 2020. Erika expressed that neither sister enjoyed the experience. Both sisters agreed to split the prize money from the match, regardless of the outcome. Mirra, the younger sister and a top 20 player, described the match as a “nightmare” before it began. Erika's victory sets her up for a last 16 match against Jasmine Paolini. The sisters noted their familiarity with each other's playing styles made the match particularly challenging.
