Singapore opposition parties strategize ahead of 2025 elections
Several opposition parties in Singapore are reassessing their strategies following recent electoral boundary changes. They aim to strengthen support and fundraising efforts ahead of the expected general election in mid-2025. The Workers' Party is adapting to the new Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC, while the Progress Singapore Party faces challenges in the newly formed West Coast-Jurong West GRC. The Singapore Democratic Party is also reevaluating its approach after Bukit Batok SMC was absorbed into a larger GRC. Five opposition parties have claimed 21 out of 33 constituencies, with overlapping interests in several areas. Discussions among parties are ongoing to address potential multi-cornered contests, which could complicate the electoral landscape.
