Sherman Park fair helps homeowners improve properties and rights

The Sherman Park Housing Resource Fair took place on Saturday at the Mary Ryan Boys and Girls Club. This annual event helps residents with various housing issues like buying homes, repairs, and tenant rights. Many people attended the fair, which ran from 9 a.m. to noon. Mabel Lamb, the Executive Director of the Sherman Park Community Association, noted the importance of property maintenance. Many homes in the area are over 80 years old, and residents should not neglect repairs. To assist with costly repairs, banks were present to discuss loan options. Habitat For Humanity also shared information on affordable construction materials. For renters facing issues with their landlords, Legal Action and the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation (NIDC) offered guidance on tenant rights.
