Shanxi improves Yellow River water quality through ecological projects

The Yellow River in Shanxi province is cleaner than ever, with the province's efforts to improve the water quality and ecosystem paying off. This is due to years of environmental efforts. Shanxi has implemented comprehensive measures to reduce soil erosion and improve water quality, including afforestation and wastewater treatment. As a result, 91.5% of the water bodies in the Yellow River basin in Shanxi met the standards in 2024. These improvements are part of a larger initiative to ensure clean water flows into the Yellow River, with projects focused on treating polluted tributaries and restoring the ecosystem. The goal is to achieve even better water quality by 2025.
