Seventy bodies found beheaded in church in Democratic Republic of Congo
At least 70 bodies have been found beheaded in a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The victims were believed to be hostages of the Allied Defence Forces (ADF) rebels, discovered in an abandoned village on February 14. This discovery coincides with the M23 rebels, allegedly backed by Rwanda, advancing into Bukavu, the region's second-largest city. Reports indicate gunfire in the city as the rebels move closer to the center. The M23 has recently gained control of key areas, including Goma and a second airport in Kavumu. The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 2,000 deaths and left 350,000 people displaced, according to the UN.
