Sega announces Shinobi movie and video game reboot inspired by classic arcade franchise

Sega is developing a Shinobi movie, inspired by the success of the Sonic films and FX's Shogun series. The film will loosely follow the original arcade game's plot, featuring ninja Joe Musashi battling the Zeed terrorist group. Sega is also working on a Shinobi video game reboot, showcasing a traditional side-scrolling action style. Leaked footage suggests a return to the franchise's roots after years of inactivity since the early 2000s. Ken Kobayashi will write the screenplay, while Sam Hargrave will direct. Hargrave is known for his work on Netflix's Extraction films, which have been very popular.
