SEBI Bars Two Entities for Manipulating New Closing Auction Session

timesnownews.com

India's market regulator SEBI has barred two entities for alleged manipulation during the new Closing Auction Session (CAS) on the BSE, impounding wrongful gains of Rs 3.67 crore. Copthall Mauritius Investment and Mansi Share & Stock Broking face restrictions, with Copthall ordered to surrender Rs 2.96 crore and Mansi Rs 71.64 lakh. Mansi's ban applies only to its proprietary trading account, and both are prohibited from CAS orders until further notice. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey had warned of swift action against CAS manipulation, citing stronger surveillance than the old VWAP system. The CAS, effective August 3, 2026, pools end-of-day orders to set a single price, initially for F&O stocks.
