School Education Department to simplify EMIS and reduce teachers' administrative tasks
The School Education Department plans to simplify the Education Management Information System (EMIS) to lessen teachers' administrative tasks. Currently, teachers must input extensive student data, which has been criticized for taking time away from teaching. A circular from Samagra Shiksha instructs School Education Directors to prepare for these changes, set to take effect by February 28. A review committee will assess EMIS processes to identify areas for reduction. Certain modules, including student incentives and monthly reports, will be streamlined or removed. However, officials stated that essential data collection will remain to keep the system updated.
