Scholz and Merz prepare for final debate ahead of German election

Chancellor Olaf Scholz and challenger Friedrich Merz will hold their second and final debate before Germany's federal election on February 23. This debate comes as Merz's conservative CDU/CSU bloc leads in the polls, with Scholz's SPD in third. The debate will be pre-recorded and broadcast later in the evening. In their first debate on February 9, they discussed key issues like migration, the economy, and security. With about 59 million eligible voters, the election is approaching quickly. Last weekend, Scholz and Merz also participated in a four-way debate with other candidates.
