Sarah Hoefflin leads Big Air qualifiers in Engadin
Sarah Hoefflin, the Swiss Olympic champion, performed strongly in the freestyle skiing Big Air qualification at the 2025 Freeski World Championships. The event took place in Engadin, Switzerland, where Hoefflin secured the top position ahead of the finals scheduled for Friday, March 28. Hoefflin finished with a score of 169.00, edging out Canada’s Megan Oldham by just 1.5 points. Although both athletes did not improve their scores in the final runs, Hoefflin's best effort was an impressive 86.75 on her first try. At 34 years old, Hoefflin aims to add a world title to her achievements, which already include gold medals from the Olympic Games and the X Games. The competition will be an exciting opportunity for her to shine at home. Notably, 17-year-old Flora Tabanelli from Italy claimed the best run of the day. She moved from 12th place to third after scoring 88.00 on her final attempt. Tabanelli, a two-time Youth Olympic champion, is now in contention for her first World Championship medal. The women’s Big Air final will take place on Friday at 19:30 local time.
