Sandbox VR demonstrates new Vive Focus Vision headset

At this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), Sandbox VR showcased its new virtual reality experience using the latest Vive Focus Vision headset. This marks a significant improvement since the last time the company was visited before the pandemic. The Sandbox VR location in San Francisco has updated technology and improved experiences for visitors. The new straps for the VR gear attach with magnets, making them easier to use. Additionally, players now have access to more weapons with realistic feedback for a more immersive experience. The Vive Focus Vision headset, which launched in October, operates similarly to the Meta Quest 3. It does not require a PC or console, allowing for more freedom of movement. Priced at $999, it is almost double the cost of the Quest 3, but offers enhanced features. Its higher resolution screen and larger field of view provide a wider perspective for players. The headset also has expandable storage, automatic lens alignment, and a replaceable battery, allowing for extended playtime. Both headsets can connect to a gaming PC for improved graphics, but the primary difference is their price. The Quest 3 starts at $499. In terms of comfort, the Vive Focus Vision feels heavier but still comfortable. However, its lens quality is not as high as that of the Quest 3, which resulted in some visual distortions during the demo. During the demo, participants played through a shortened version of the game "Deadwood Valley," where they faced a zombie horde from inside a speeding truck. This experience was thrilling, filled with surprises as zombies attempted to attack from all angles. It's important to note that while the Sandbox demo featured the latest headset, most locations still use an older model. Nonetheless, the event provided a glimpse into the exciting possibilities of Sandbox VR and the Vive Focus Vision in a dedicated gaming environment.
