Samsung will lead development of 6G technology

Samsung Electronics has gained leadership roles in 3GPP, the global telecommunications standards organization, solidifying its influence in the industry. Rajavelsamy Rajadurai and Lixiang Xu, engineers from Samsung R&D, were elected as chair and vice-chair of key 3GPP working groups, focusing on network security and base station protocols, respectively. This follows a previous appointment of a Samsung researcher as chair of the Radio Access Network group. These appointments position Samsung to influence the development of 6G technologies, including AI integration, enhanced security, and sustainable practices, as 3GPP begins 6G research in the latter half of 2025.
