Ryanair taps Google Cloud AI to automate crew scheduling and prevent outages
Ryanair signed a five-year partnership with Google Cloud on Wednesday to deploy AI tools, including Gemini Enterprise, across its operations to automate crew scheduling and reduce technology outage risks. The deal extends Google Workspace and Cloud services to 35,000 staff members. The agreement supports Ryanair's dual-cloud strategy alongside Amazon Web Services, aiming to maintain flight and customer operations if one platform fails. Ryanair will also integrate Google DeepMind models like AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext for fleet management and maintenance planning, replacing existing collaboration systems. Europe's largest airline by passengers, carrying about 216 million annually across 3,900 daily flights, targets 300 million passengers by 2034. This push includes an order for 300 new Boeing 737s. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
