Russia seeks to revive Nord Stream pipeline project
Russia is discussing the possibility of restoring the Nord Stream pipeline. This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the First Channel. Lavrov acknowledged that there are currently disagreements. However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring energy supply for Europe. He questioned whether this concern is only relevant for the United States and Russia. The conversation about the Nord Stream pipelines continues, he said. The minister described a situation where the United States might influence the European Union to continue using Russian gas as "surreal." This remark follows the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines on September 26, 2022. At that time, the first pipeline was already stopped for maintenance, while the second had not yet started operations. As a result, three out of four pipeline lines were damaged.
