Russia demands NATO retraction in Ukraine peace talks
Russian diplomats have introduced a new demand in peace talks regarding Ukraine, stating that NATO's previous promises are insufficient. They want NATO to retract a 2008 commitment that Ukraine would eventually join the alliance. The talks took place in Saudi Arabia with no Ukrainian or European representatives present, raising concerns about Russia's increasing demands. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine will not accept any agreements made without its involvement. The discussions concluded without a meeting between Putin and Trump. Both sides agreed to establish a consultation mechanism to improve US-Russia relations, but no compromises were reached.
