Rubio meets Russian officials in Saudi Arabia to discuss Ukraine war
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Saudi Arabia for talks with Russian officials aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. This follows President Donald Trump's recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, initiating negotiations. The discussions are set to take place on Tuesday and are among the first high-level meetings between U.S. and Russian officials in years. Rubio will be joined by national security adviser Mike Waltz and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. Rubio is also expected to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss Trump's controversial proposal regarding Gaza. Saudi Arabia has rejected plans for Palestinian resettlement and is working on a counterproposal for reconstruction efforts.
