Rubio arrives in Saudi Arabia for talks with Russia on Ukraine war
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of talks with Russian officials aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. This follows a recent phone call between President Trump and Russian President Putin, initiating negotiations. The discussions, set for Tuesday, will be among the first high-level meetings between U.S. and Russian officials in years. Rubio's agenda also includes talks on Trump's controversial Gaza resettlement plan, which has faced strong opposition from Arab nations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is in the region but is not expected to attend the Saudi talks. Saudi Arabia is working on a counterproposal regarding Gaza and has stated it will not normalize relations with Israel without a Palestinian state agreement.
