Rogue surgeon pockets £1 million in pension payments after fleeing the country

A rogue surgeon who harmed patients in botched operations has received approximately £1 million in pension payments since leaving the country. Professor Sam Eljamel, formerly head of neurosurgery at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital, has collected this sum from his NHS pensions over the past 11 years. He was suspended in 2013 and resigned the following year. Eljamel, who is now reportedly operating in Libya, fled after harming an estimated 200 patients. A public inquiry is investigating his tenure, but he has not participated.
