Rocket Lab launches third mission in two weeks

Rocket Lab has successfully launched its third mission in two weeks, setting a new record for the New Zealand-based company. The latest mission, named Finding Hot Wildfires Near You, took off from Mahia, New Zealand, deploying eight satellites for wildfire detection company OroraTech. Using its Electron rocket, Rocket Lab's mission enhances OroraTech's satellite network. This technology allows continuous, real-time monitoring of wildfires, improving emergency response efforts. Rocket Lab's founder, Sir Peter Beck, praised the team's consistent performance during this record-breaking launch period. This launch is Rocket Lab’s fifth of the year and the 63rd overall, bringing the total satellites deployed to 224. The company is aiming for 20 launches this year and is steadily growing in a market dominated by SpaceX and its Falcon 9 rocket. Rocket Lab is expanding its operations, including a new launch from U.S. soil and plans for its powerful Neutron rocket. The Neutron will have a sea-based landing platform, similar to SpaceX's Falcon 9, as part of Rocket Lab's strategy to build a comprehensive space business.
