Rite Aid faces inventory shortages and potential closures in New York drugstores
A Rite Aid store in the Capital Region of New York is experiencing significant inventory shortages. Customers have reported increasingly empty shelves throughout 2024, raising concerns about the store's future. In October 2023, Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In July 2024, the company announced plans to close 59 stores in New York and recently revealed the closure of its distribution center in Liverpool, NY. Previously, the only expected closure in the Capital Region was a store in Saratoga Springs. The current situation at the Albany area Rite Aid suggests it may also be at risk of closing.
