Riga Sugar Mill reopens in Sitamarhi after four years with new ownership

The Riga Sugar Mill in Sitamarhi has reopened after four years, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurating the facility. The mill was purchased by Nirani Sugar Ltd for Rs 84 crore after being deemed non-profitable by its previous operator. The reopening is expected to benefit farmers in four districts: Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, and East Champaran. Nirani Sugar plans to enhance the mill's capacity and establish over 30 ancillary units in the area. During the inauguration, Kumar highlighted the mill's potential to improve farmers' incomes and transform the local economy. The event included traditional rituals and celebrations by the community.
