Residents in Paris suburb produce region's first olive oil
Residents in Malakoff, a suburb of Paris, have produced the region's first olive oil, named "Born to be Olive." They collected olives from over 120 local trees, resulting in 50 liters of oil, marking a new local initiative. The project began when Vincent Chévrier noticed many homes had olive trees. A crowdfunding campaign raised €1,900 to buy equipment for harvesting and pressing the olives. The community gathered 550 kilograms of olives from 80 trees for processing. The initiative fosters community spirit and local food production. Participants enjoy learning the oil-making process together, enhancing connections among neighbors. Chévrier hopes for increased production in the future, emphasizing the project's social aspect.
