Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona dies from cancer complications

Democratic Representative Raúl Grijalva of Arizona died at 77 due to complications from cancer treatments. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2024 and had been undergoing treatment since then. Grijalva had served in Congress for over 20 years and was known for his advocacy for his community. He initially announced his diagnosis after seeking treatment for a persistent cough. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with smoking as the primary risk factor. Grijalva had quit smoking following his diagnosis.
