Rep. Paolo Duterte authorized travel to Netherlands, Japan
Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte has received travel authority to visit the Netherlands and Japan from March 12 to 15, confirmed House Secretary General Reginald Velasco. This travel is personal and will not use government funds. The travel clearance comes amid rumors linking Duterte's trip to his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was recently arrested in connection with an International Criminal Court case. The House has previously granted similar requests for personal trips. Former President Duterte was detained at the airport on Tuesday due to an ICC arrest order but later left for the Netherlands. His trip follows discussions about the arrest order while he was in Hong Kong.
